In 1993, Dickinson Architects provided design services for the Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Evans, Georgia. The Savannah Rapids Pavilion is situated on the banks of the Savannah River and adjacent to the Augusta Canal. The 25,000 square foot community center sits on a 30-acre master planned site in which the building merges into the surrounding hillside. An observation deck overlooks the Savannah River and Augusta Canal adding to the resort atmosphere of the building. Internally, the exposed wood beams are basked in light by two large skylights and highlighted at night by indirect lighting. The building features two banquet halls, a full kitchen, administrative offices, three large meeting rooms with folding partitions, three parking areas, and energy conservation components.
